The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
On November 12th, I had an ultrasound appointment that would change everything for us. The ultrasound was intended to check the baby's size because my previous two pregnancies were close together. It was also my husband's first time attending an ultrasound appointment, so we were eager to see our little girl. The technician took the necessary measurements and images during the scan, but we noticed she kept focusing on the chest area. Unbeknownst to me, my husband shared the same uneasy feeling I had, thinking, "Something is wrong." The first technician excused herself to bring in a second technician. During her scan, the second technician also concentrated on the baby's chest area. After obtaining the images she needed, she excused herself and went to fetch the doctor. However, the doctor never came in; instead, a nurse came to escort us to an office. This felt strange.
The doctor came into the room, and we were given unexpected news about our beloved baby. Our daughter has been diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This condition means that her diaphragm hasn't developed properly, impacting the growth of her lungs and other organs.
As parents, hearing this diagnosis was incredibly difficult. At that moment, so many emotions swept over us—fear, uncertainty, and concern for our baby’s health. But through it all, we’ve been reminded that nothing surprises God, and His plans for us are always good, even when we don’t fully understand them.
Leaning Into Faith and Hope
This pregnancy journey has taken an unexpected turn, yet it has already tested and strengthened our faith in numerous ways. Although it's not the news we anticipated, we are certain that God loves this baby even more than we ever could. He is the ultimate Creator, and we trust Him to guide us through every step. A verse that has brought us comfort is: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 Our baby is already such a gift, and we believe in the miracles God can perform. We’re choosing to walk this path with hearts full of hope, trusting that He will provide us with the strength we need.
How You Can Support Us
We would love your prayers and encouragement as we prepare for our baby’s arrival.
Specifically, we’re praying for:
- Strength, peace, and comfort for our family.
- Wisdom for the doctors and medical team who will care for our baby.
- Healing and health for our precious little one.
We’re so grateful for every prayer lifted on our behalf. Knowing that our community is standing with us comforts us during this time.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude
This journey isn’t one we would have chosen, but we are grateful for how it has drawn us closer to God and each other. We know the road ahead will be challenging, but we are resting in the peace that only God can provide.
We already see God's hand in everything. Praise God!
Thank you for walking this journey with us, loving our family, and keeping us in your prayers. We will continue to share updates as we prepare for our baby’s arrival and navigate the days ahead. We’re holding tightly to God’s promises and trusting Him every step of the way.
With love and gratitude,
Ashley
